We are looking for an enthusiastic Accounting Professional who enjoys working in a diverse team that is always looking for ways to improve processes and accelerate execution. You will be involved in the further harmonization of the Finance department, looking for the best practices/solutions for all challenges that we encounter.
Your job
- As an Accounting Professional you have a good basic (theoretical) knowledge of accounting principles and processes. Your day-to-day work will mostly consist of (financial) accounting, reconciliations and related analysis. Furthermore you are involved in the period closings to set up and explain the balance and P&L changes to ABF's management. Finally you are also involved in the IFRS monthly and quarterly reports to the Bank and ensure that these reports are provided efficiently and in accordance with IFRS and ABN AMRO standards.
- In your role you will work closely with other departments with the aim of improving the processes and the period closings. Furthermore you will steer on timely and accurate delivery of information by internal and external parties. Every year, several audits are carried out by the internal and external accountant, in which you play a pivotal role in providing requested information for these audits.
- You have an active role in maintaining the internal control environment. ABN AMRO uses an internal control environment in which it is important that the key controls are maintained. It is also important that the associated work instructions (SOPs) are up to date and that the End User Designed Applications (EUDAs) are used in a controlled manner.
- Within ABF we are always looking for improvement and continuously learn from our experiences. Various (change) projects are being carried out within the Finance department. You will be involved in the evolution of processes, both by implementing small improvements and finishing bigger projects.
Working environment
ABN AMRO Asset Based Finance (ABF) is a subsidiary of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and is active in business finance, asset leasing, accounts receivable financing, stock financing and credit management. ABF is a result of a legal merger between ABN AMRO Lease and ABN AMRO Commercial Finance. ABF is active in 4 European countries (UK, Germany, France and the Netherlands).
You will be part of the Accounting team which is an English speaking team of approximately 15 colleagues. The team successfully integrated the two Finance departments after the merger, and centralized into one Accounting department in the Netherlands. Some of the keywords that apply to the team are teamwork, challenge, self-development, and self-direction. As a team we are working hard to become a future-proof Finance department. The aim is to get one step better every day.
Your profile
- Master degree in Accounting & Control, Economics and/or Business Administration (or international equivalent)
- 4-5 year experience within a finance / accounting role
- Experience with relevant general ledger (preferably SAP) systems and Excel
- Ability to identify and communicate the important recorded events that have a significant effect on P&L, without getting lost in detail
- Knowledge of internal control guidelines and of IFRS standards is an advantage
- Fluent in English, Dutch/French/German would be an advantage
- Analytically strong, helicopter view and good communication skills

- The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
- The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
- Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
- Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
