Manager Financial ESG Deals
Job Description & Summary
At Deals (M&A) we work on transactions that you regularly hear about in the news. We provide support, insight and analysis for management, shareholders, investors and other stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in the financial, commercial and operational aspects of mergers, acquisitions and (re-)financing processes. Sustainability (or ‘ESG’) plays an increasingly important role in this respect. How do investors integrate ESG in their investment decisions, what impact does sustainability have on the value of companies and does this contribute to building future-proof businesses?
What will you be doing?
Within the Deals ESG team, you help clients who wish to buy or sell a business to identify opportunities and risks regarding sustainability. Our ESG team advises both small and larger companies, and both Private Equity firms and Corporates through the entire Deal cycle (pre-, during- and post-deal). We take sustainability analyses to the next level, away from compliance. Identifying value creation opportunities and quantifying the financial impact of sustainability factors are key elements of our work.
As a manager in ESG Deals you will lead projects from start to end and manage the team working on it. Projects can vary between 1 week up to 10 weeks.
You will thoroughly assess and quantify the ESG aspects of a potential transaction. For example, to what extent are the GHG targets achievable based on the current plans and have the related costs been properly estimated?
You consider the value creation opportunities (for example, increased appetite for sustainable products & services), but also identify possible risks surrounding ESG aspects.
You will work from our leading national and international Deals practice where innovation and AI tooling is important. Our work spans all sectors of the economy, for example consumer markets, industrial manufacturing, and financial services, to name a few.
We actively work together with sustainability experts across the global PwC network to develop insights. Besides working for clients, you’ll be actively involved in building and positioning the ESG team, both internally within Deals and PwC and when shaping our rapidly evolving proposition to clients.
Does this describe you?
You are energized by a dynamic and commercial transaction environment. You are an enthusiastic and inquisitive professional with both experience in, and knowledge of finance and sustainability and ready for the next step in your career. You are interested in the latest sustainability developments and you have an eye for what’s going on within society. This is reflected in your professional experience. You are ready for a position in which you can grow, have a social impact, and get the best out of yourself and your colleagues. This position requires you to be analytically strong, think out of the box and work within an enthusiastic and diverse team. You like to take responsibility and you have a ‘can do’ mentality, in combination with:
- a university master's degree or equivalent (preferably in Economics, Finance and/or a Sustainability related education);
- a minimum of five years relevant work experience, such as M&A, Private Equity, (sustainability) consultancy;
- passion for sustainability (prior knowledge through education and/or work experience is a plus);
- affinity to analyze large amounts of data;
- good command of Dutch and English.
