The opportunity - What future are you building towards?
As a Senior ESG consultant, you will play a pivotal role in our team, bringing your expertise in sustainability and reporting to assist our clients in transforming their operations to be more sustainable and compliant with evolving regulations. Given the rising demand for non-financial reporting, your role is vital in the ESG transformation for our client portfolio in order to comply with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Responsibilities – How can you make a lasting impact in a rapidly changing world?
You will work closely within the team to provide clients with the following:
- Conducting and evaluating legal entity scoping, double materiality analysis and GAP assessment in order to comply with the CSRD;
- Advising on non-financial reporting, including ESRS and ISSB standards;
- Interacting with clients to comprehend their value chain (including impacts, risks and opportunities), to ultimately guide and implement the sustainability report and the ESG reporting manual;
- Guiding clients to achieve their ESG vision and translating this into implementation roadmaps to ultimately achieve integrated financial and management reporting;
- Assisting in establishing robust internal control frameworks and audit readiness;
- Facilitating the seamless integration of various ESG datapoints and KPI’s into the client’s operational workflows;
- Exposure or experience in ESG-related digital solutions and automation projects will be an added advantage.

Job requirements – Where do you start if you want to change the world?
- 3-4 years of relevant working experience in financial reporting (preferably ESG reporting), finance, business administration, or related fields.
- An interest in relevant developments and legislation, such as CSRD, EU Taxonomy for sustainable activities, ESG data, and ratings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and/or Dutch, with the ability to explain specialized concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A results-oriented approach with a focus on high quality and accuracy.
- The ability to work under tight timelines.
- The ability to work independently, coordinate projects with teams and clients, as well as other involved stakeholders.
- A bachelor's and/or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or another appropriate academic major.

Recruitment procedure – How can you prepare for a long life together?
The selection process generally consists of 2 interview rounds and/or a Business case. An (online) assessment and pre-employment screening are also part of the application process. Depending on the job level, the pre-employment screening may include the following components: Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), or if a VOG cannot be applied for in the Netherlands, a Criminal Background Check from the country where you currently reside or where you have resided in the past five years, an integrity questionnaire, verification of ID, diplomas and/or work experience, and consultation of the central insolvency register.
Pre-employment screening
Due to laws and regulations, and because EY (and in some cases its clients) has high demands on the reliability and integrity of its employees, every new employee will be screened. Depending on your rank the pre employment screening could contain the following: Certificate of Conduct (in Dutch: VOG) or - if requesting a Dutch VOG is not possible - Criminal Background Check of the country you are currently living or have lived during the last five years, integrity questionnaire, verification of ID, diploma’s and/or work experience and consultation of the Dutch insolvency registry.
